Foo Fighters - "Rescued"
One of the most important Foo Fighters’ songs in a long time. Massive.
Plus, the announcement of a new album, But Here We Are.
Mötley Crüe Guitarist’s Lawsuit Says He Was Kicked Out
Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars has filed a lawsuit against his former bandmates, accusing them of forcing him out of the band and keeping him from all future profits. The alleged cut-off occurred after Mars announced he’d be retiring from touring due to a chronic inflammatory disease.
The disease in question is Ankylosing spondylitis. My wife has it and it’s a bitch. Seriously though, he carried that band for decades.

KISS Biopic Chronicling Band’s Early Years Coming to Netflix in 2024
Apparently, there’s a KISS biopic on the horizon.
If it’s as good as the silly Motley Crue one, it should do well and probably bump up the band, especially in 2024, when I expect them to do close to nothing until a likely Vegas residency in 2025 or 2026.
Bono and The Edge: Tiny Desk Concert
The most recognizable half of U2 made the trip to the NPR offices to perform a Tiny Desk Concert recently. Accompanied by the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Choir, the pair sang four songs from their 2000 album All That You Can’t Leave Behind, including Beautiful Day.
I’m not a huge U2 fan, but this is wonderful.
The Nuno Bettencourt Solo Everyone is Talking About
Rick Beato reviews Nuno Bettencourt’s INSANE solo from Extreme’s new single “Rise.”
It’s incredible. The best solo I’ve heard in a long, long time.
KISS Announces Their Final Concert Ever Will Be in 2023
KISS was on The Howard Stern Show and announced their final concert. There’s one more show in November in Rosemont that I kind of want to go to, but I’ve already seen them so many times. That show is on a Monday, which sucks.
It is good to remember this is just an end to touring. I fully expect the band to have a long-term Vegas residency in 2025, which I think will transition to a fully non-Gene, Paul, Tommy, and Eric version of the band akin to The Blue Man Group.
The Howard Stern Show also released clips of the interview and the band goes into “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout it Out Loud,” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.”
Paul Stanley and His Paintings
Jim Ryan, writing for Forbes, has an interesting story on Paul Stanley and why he started painting.
I really like his abstracts. I really hate his self-portraits, KISS-related paintings, and guitar stuff.
Burt Bacharach, visionary pop composer, has died at 94
Elizabeth Blair, writing for NPR, has the obituary of Burt Bacharach.
So many songs. What a body of work.
My favorite is “What the World Needs Now is Love.”
The Multi-Faceted Genius of Drummer Stewart Copeland
Brandon Toews of Drumeo took a deep dive into the incredible, multi-faceted genius of legendary drummer [Stewart Copeland](The Genius Of Stewart Copeland). He further notes how Copeland’s international upbringing, sense of adventure, and search for knowledge gave him the percussive tools to make him one of the most distinctive drummers in the world, both with The Police and beyond.
Much later in my musical journey, I discovered how amazing Copeland was and continues to be. I love deep dives like this.
Ain't Talkin' 'bout Feliz Navidad
José Van Haliano - “Ain’t Talkin' ‘bout Feliz Navidad”
So good. The best mashups on the internet. That last “Yeah!” made me laugh.
Christine McVie, Hitmaker for Fleetwood Mac, Is Dead at 79
Christine McVie has sadly passed away.
She leaves a legacy of amazing songs. I love so much of her writing, but “Songbird” is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song of all time.
KISS Performs Secret Philip Morris Concert In Austin, Texas
According to Robert Moseley, who was in attendance, on October 22, 2022, KISS played a secret show for Philip Morris International, the largest tobacco company in the world. This private concert was not open to the public and took place at Vulcan Gas Company, a small club at 418 E 6th St in downtown Austin. No more than 100 people attended the concert.
Seeing KISS at a club is pretty cool. I just wish the guy filming would stop talking and singing.
Styx "Renegade" - But the Lyrics are AI Generated Images
This video is interesting. Not great. Not amaze-balls. Just interesting. Like a thought experiment.
Great song, though.
Breaking Down My Favorite Journey Song
Rick Beato is just the best at explaining why particular songs are amazing.
What Happened When A Young Traveler Bumped Into David Bowie
Teenager Brad Miele spent the summer of 1984 exploring Europe by rail. One night in London, Miele says he unexpectedly crossed paths with cult musician David Bowie and ended up appearing in a Bowie music video.
What a sweet story.
Go to Jail
It’s a good day for bad people to go to jail..
R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
Ghislaine Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in Jeffrey Epstein sex abuse case.
I can think of a few more that need to be indicted, convicted, and sentenced…
