Terrance Shannon Jr. Found Not Guilty

The jury in Kansas deliberated for only 90 minutes and came back with a full acquittal over the rape and sexual battery charges the former Illinois basketball star Terrance Shannon Jr. had to endure for most of last season.

I can’t imagine the ordeal he was put under and how well he handled the situation. Many people would have crumbled. He did not.

The Talk

Jonas Hollerup Helle is a visual artist from Copenhagen who created The Talk. He recut old episodes of Charlie Rose to have notable people interviewing each other. Bernie Sanders and Slavoj Zizek. A very funny Will Smith/Chris Rock. And a meeting between Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Williams that has the strong vibe of being a conversation in the afterlife. However, that piece has a sequel. And it is _chilling_.

Cherry Ice Cream Smile

Since 1982, people have admired the drawing by the late Patrick Nagel that graced the cover of the Duran Duran album _Rio_. But who was the model that inspired it? The mystery has been solved 42 years later.

Everything Apple Just Announced

Apple crammed an overwhelming number of new features into its WWDC 2024 keynote event. This video showcases the highlights. The proofread/rewrite tool may have just killed Grammarly.

The Best Vanilla Ice Cream

I’m a big fan of vanilla. I love the smell and taste of vanilla. I add it to my coffee, use it in my aromatherapy, body wash, and cologne, and, of course, I love vanilla ice cream. Apparently, this is the best ice cream. I’ll have to try some.

Comic Book Store Launches ‘Smell Policy’ To Keep Out Stinky Fans

A comic book store in Iowa is having issues with smelly customers, and they’re doing something about it. It’s not a stereotype if it’s true…

Why Trump was Found Guilty of 34 Felonies

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the recent guilty charges former President Donald Trump was given on 34 felony counts. If you really didn’t follow the trial, this explains everything in less than 30 minutes.

Racism is Still Here

Matt Eddy, the father of a high school graduate at Baraboo High School in Wisconsin, rushed the stage at graduation to prevent the school’s black superintendent from shaking his daughter’s hand. This is the same school where a group of white students gave a Nazi salute and then claimed they didn’t mean it like that or some other bullshit.

End Of An Error As Ángel Hernández Calls It Quits

The worst thing an umpire can do is teach fans their name. Finally, Angel Hernandez has left the game. He was absolutely horrific. I’m glad he’s gone.

Stop Acting Like Your Famous

“You aren’t famous. Anything you do or create will probably receive little to no attention, so stop optimizing for a non-existent audience and instead focus on what makes you enjoy the activity.” Excellent advice. The rest is pretty good, too.

50 Things I Know

Sasha Chapin has created a wonderful list of fifty things he knows about himself and the world. It is full of little notes and observations. I highly recommend reading through them.

Illini Football | Memorial Stadium

It’s good to remember what the “memorial” in Memorial Stadium means. Let’s never forget.

FORTY-FIVE! - A Randy Rainbow Song Parody

Randy Rainbow’s tour is on a break, so he’s back home making new videos. The political satirist channels Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” in a perfect takedown of Trump.

Threads and Lists

One of the only reasons I still check Twitter is because of the curated set of Lists I have to follow my various interests. I subscribe to lists focused on favorite sports teams, one for local news, one for entertainment news, and a couple of others. The old Tweetedeck (RIP) was amazing at handling lists. The best alternative to Twitter, Threads, just created a user experience similar to Tweetdeck, but it’s missing the one thing I want… Lists. Let me add accounts to a list with a chronological timeline.

Megalopolis

Francis Ford Coppola’s _Megalopolis_ trailer looks epic, weird, and mind-bendy. I have no idea what’s going on. Is that good?

GPT-4o

OpenAI introduced GPT-4o to the world, and it is flat-out amazing. I was amazed at how the voice was totally conversational and fun—it could even sing! I believe this is another revolutionary moment in the world of tech. The presentation reminded me a lot of Steve Jobs unveiling the iPhone, but in a more relaxed and interactive way. Shades of Her, too.

How to Create More & Consume Less in 2024

Tiago Forte has some lessons on how to create more and consume less. I’m currently failing at this, so this is good information.
